    Wakimachi at Mima City is the town where indigo merchant enjoyed prosperity in the Edo period (1603–1868). Stretching along 430 meters, there is “Udatsu” street or townscape as a symbol of wealth. The oldest existing building was built in 1707. Besides Udatsu, there are “Mushikomado” and “Shitomido” that also have unique architecture with. It was designated as an important national preservation district for its traditional buildings.
