Kagawa

Japan's smallest prefecture has a lot to offer with its ancient, sacred pilgrimage route and islands seemingly made for contemporary art.

Kagawa Prefecture is located north of Shikoku, the smallest of the four main islands of Japan. Kagawa has Takamatsu, Shikoku's largest city, and many small islands on the Seto Inland Sea. Naoshima and the surrounding islands are filled with internationally renowned museums and modern art installations, while Shodoshima is famous for its olive production and sandy beaches. Kagawa Prefecture is perhaps most famous for its udon noodles, as many of Japan's best noodle shops are located in this prefecture.
