Miyazaki

Located on the southeastern coast of Kyushu, Miyazaki has a warm, temperate climate and is famous as a destination for luxury honeymoon couples in Japan. In the past, when referring to this city, people often think of the first emperor of Japan named Jimmu. He lived in the 7th century BC and had a legendary castle when he sat on the very spot that is now known as Miyazaki. Recently, however, Miyazaki has been associated with a more contemporary practice – the fact that popular comedian and star Higashikokubaru Hideo served as governor of Miyazaki Prefecture from 2007 to 2011.

Despite being a small Japanese city with a population of around 365,000, Miyazaki and surrounding areas have a host of popular natural attractions for tourists including Takachiho Gorge, Aoshima Island and shrines, and numerous beaches. The sea is full of sand.
