Oita

Oita City is the capital of the province of the same name. Although it is relatively small, it has some very interesting historical sites and many roads leading to other parts of Oita Prefecture which is famous throughout Japan for its precious hot springs. Oita used to be an important center for missionaries, so there are many Catholic churches mixed with traditional Japanese temples.

In addition to enjoying fresh seafood, don't forget the restorative effects of the hot springs in Oita, especially Beppu, Yufuin, and Tsukano Kosen.
