Vibrant Dancing City

The capital of Tokushima Prefecture in the northeast corner of Shikoku, Tokushima City, becomes a burst of color every summer during the lively Awa Odori Festival. Located at the mouth of several major rivers, the city was once a center for indigo dyeing. Currently, this place is a bustling port city and comes alive with Awa Odori dancers every summer.

Stretching along 430 meters, there is “Udatsu” street or townscape as a symbol of wealth. The oldest existing building was built in 1707.
